My recent collage work is inspired by the mutable nature of our sense of self and of place. I moved 5 times in 5 years and gave birth to a son. Thus, the title “Proteus” refers to Poseidon’s firstborn and suggests the alchemical capacity of the self to assume many forms. Who we are and the physical world we rely on can be acted upon by forces beyond our control, becoming unrecognizable. The dissolution and reassembly of self and home are my current subjects.
